Evaluation Of Antimicrobial Activity Of Brazilian Arnica

Considering to crescent looks for population for alternative  therapies,  this  study  evaluates the antimicrobial activity of  Brazilian Arnica (Solidago microglossa D.C.). It was used for this experiment arnica dye 20% in alcohol 30%, arnica dye 20%  in  PEG-400  (Polietilenoglicol),  blanck discs  impregnated  with  25µg  and  50µg  of  arnica dye  20% (alcohol and PEG), placed in Muller  Hinton agar (MHA),  sowed  with   Staphylococcus  aureus ,  SBAC  198 (Staphyococcus aureus),  Pseudomonas   aeruginosa, maintained to 35°C for 24 hours.  It was  verified  presence  of  inhibition  zone in the  petri dishes containing:  discs with arnica dye 20%/alcool (25µg) for S. aureus, P. aeruginosa and SBAC 198 (Staphyococcus aureus); discs with arnica dye 20%/alcohol  (50µg)  for  S. aureus,  P. aeruginosa  and  SBAC 198 (Staphyococcus aureus); discs with arnica dye 20%/PEG (50µg) for P. aeruginosa and SBAC 198 (Staphyococcus aureus).  Based in the results obtained and under the conditions of this experiment it can be conclude that the Brazilian Arnica (Solidago microglossa D.C.) presents antimicrobial activity.
